Eleanor Neale is a 22 year old British YouTuber who’s prime content is true crime. Currently, she holds 1.62 million subscribers on YouTube, and 171K followers on Instagram.

Eleanor Neale’s videos range from very popular true crime cases such as the Black Dahlia murder, The Yorkshire Ripper and the abduction of Shannan Matthews, to more obscure cases such as the murder of Kedarie Johnson and Shirley Leach. She is also a dedicated researcher, often splitting her videos into two or three parts to showcase all the knowledge of a case she was able to find. Eleanor Neale also makes sure to be diverse with her content, finding cases from all across the globe and featuring victims of different nationalities, races, age and sexuality. Fans of her have often mentioned how she is very respectful of the victims when telling their stories and is always mindful of the content she creates. She always gives disclaimers before her videos, warning of the specific content she’s about to show (i.e cases involving children or graphic content). She is known to be very interactive with her viewers and channel members, often choosing to cover cases they suggested to her.

Eleanor Neale’s passion for true crime came from when she subscribed to Netflix at 15 years old and binged their true crime documentary category. As she mentions in her interview with the BBC – “I think I rinsed the whole documentary section in one week,” she says. “I was like, ‘right okay, I want a job in that, somehow”

She studied psychology in college, but due to mental illness dropped out and found YouTube.  However instead of using YouTube to further her enthusiasm of true crime, she turned to her other passion. Another side of Elearnoe Neale is her love for makeup.

Eleanor Neale began her channel back in 2017 as a makeup tutorialist and reviewer. Her first video was entitled “TYLER, THE CREATOR – FLOWER BOY INSPIRED MAKEUP LOOK!”. In the video, Eleanor Neale uses the Morphe 25B palette to do her makeup, and overall the video gained 14K views. On average, her makeup videos would reach 30K views, though her most popular makeup video – “BAG MAKEUP SWAP with a 13 year old” – reached 1.2 million views.

In 2018, Eleanor Neale changed the direction of her YouTube channel, when she uploaded her first true crime video. The Unsolved Disappearance of Suzy Lampulgh reached 325K views and soon true crime became the sole focus. Currently in 2021, her most viewed video is the Becky Watts case with 4.2 million views.

Eleanor Neale did create a second channel for herself in 2020, where she could focus time on creating her makeup tutorials and vlogs. At the moment the channel has 66.6K subscribers and three uploads.

In November 2020, Eleanor Neale was part of FootAsylum’s new show ‘Locked In’. 10 influencers with no access to their phones, social media or outside interaction, would live together and have to partake in challenges to win points. Almost like a Big Brother for influencers. The overall prize was £10,000 for a charity of their choice. Eleanor Neale did not win Locked In, but was a fan favourite in the show.

Eleanor Neale as a YouTuber is going from strength to strength. She’s dedicated to her content and consistent in her uploads. But beyond that, she is a very kind and bright person who loves what she does and will only get more successful in the future.
