From the YouTube Scene to the Streaming Screen

Mark Edward Fischbach, better known by his online alias Markiplier, has finally made the expansion from YouTube to creating and starring in a TV show. Markiplier is an American YouTube personality and has been a staple figure in the online world of gaming and entertainer since 2012. 

His new show Edge of Sleep is based on his own podcast of the same name, and has begun filming in Canada. Markiplier announced the project on his youtube in a video entitled “Uh…” very on-brand for Markiplier and expresses his enthusiasm and excitement for the show.

Edge of Sleep will follow a night watchman who, once finishing his shift, discovers that everyone in the world who fell asleep has died the previous night. The show is a post-apocalyptic mystery thriller, as he and a band of survivors uncover the secrets of this global pandemic before they too fall asleep.  

As of now, he holds 15.5 billion total video views on YouTube and over 28.9 million subscribers. He has his own YouTube Original series, ‘A Heist with Markiplier’ and a fashion brand, Cloak, he created and owns with fellow YouTuber Jacksepticeye.

While keeping to his signature gaming content on YouTube, particularly of horror-themed games, Markiplier has been venturing into new territories, with ‘A Heist with Markiplier’ now on its second series, the year-long spiral of Unus Annus, and Edge of Sleep finally put into production. Whether the show will be streamed on Hulu, Netflix, Amazon Prime or another streaming site is yet to be known. But one thing is for sure, we cannot wait to see Markiplier in his first official acting role.
