HOW KAREN CIVIL BECAME HER OWN SUPER HERO AND NOW RUNS HER OWN EMPIRE

Karen Civil known as a digital marketing strategist, entrepreneur and author explains the struggles she faced, being a woman of colour in the industry. Civil tells others “To put on your cape and be your own super hero”

36-Year-Old Karen, was born in Brooklyn, New York and was brought up in a Haitian-American family. According to Nylon which is a platform for fashion, beauty and entertainment, Civil kickstarted her career in college where she developed fan sites for the likes of The Backstreet Boys and J.D Williams. Civil went onto work an internship at a radio station. In 2008 civil developed her own website which targeted the hip-hop industry tackling marketing and digital strategy. Civil got her break through in 2010 when she and Lil Wayne made a website specifically for his fan mail and then she took on digital marketing for Beats by Dr Dre.

Civil now has her own website, a podcast and is CEO of “live civil” which is a platform she created to celebrate and empower people in their everyday lives and is also CEO of “always civil” which is a branding and marketing business. Civil has also added the author job title to her list of occupations and has recently released her new book “Be You & Live Civil: Tools for Unlocking Your Potential & Living Your Purpose and has now made millions. Civil takes social media to a storm and has 756k followers on Instagram and 489.8k followers on twitter.

According to Karen’s Instagram IGTV video on “who is Karen Civil you ask” she hasn’t always found things easy. Karen explains that “it’s hard becoming an entrepreneur anyway but add the fact you’re a woman of colour and it’s going be a struggle” she goes onto telling her audience to “put on a cape and become your own superhero”.
