Thirty-two-year-old, Billy Morgan is smashing the slopes as he hits 42K followers on Instagram. The Southampton born, snowboarder was destined to ride, developing some wicked techniques that has consistently reaffirmed his position as a trailblazer.

In his teenage years, the adrenaline junkie began his journey in athletics by learning on dry ski slopes in his hometown, later progressing to Morzine, where Morgan tackled his first ever season at age sixteen. Not only did Morgan have a passion and innate skill for snowboarding but was also an acrobatic gymnast in the making, which he later dropped in order to focus on the slopes. ‘I was actually an acrobat instead of a gymnast so had more aerial awareness, that kind of stuff really does help with snowboarding.’

In 2009, Morgan won his first fundamental competition at the British Big Air Championship which spurred him on to success as he attended the Sierra Nevada FIS World Cup and came third. The Sochi Olympic games solidified his position as a snowboarding professional in 2014, as he was later asked to represent Great Britain for the Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, resulting in a bronze medal.

On top of being a sensational snowboarder, Morgan is predominately known for landing some unbelievable tricks, like the world-first quad cork 1800. ‘That’s the kind of moment that I love doing snowboarding and the sports that I do, because it’s all your focus is kind of consumed by it.’

Although Morgan’s victory has passed through decades, the thrill seeker still deals with pre-competition nerves ‘If I’m left alone, I will just go mad. I need to be distracted.’ The boarder never stops learning and honing his skills, as he recently opened his eyes to the world of split boarding on a recent trip to Scotland.

After living the dream, Morgan’s decided the time has come to enjoy the sport without the pressure of competing. ‘I hit a wall with being able to compete at a high level and I needed a change of scene. I will still be doing the fun contests, but I will not be going to the next Olympics.’
