The best & worst looks from the BET awards

After many events being cancelled and postponed due to COVID this year’s BET awards was the perfect time for the stars we love to show out and get their glad rags dusted off and back on the red carpet. We saw a range of classic looks, club looks and plain old strange looks. 

Social media was alive once again to critique and compliment the best and worst dressed of the awards.

This year the celebs didn’t meet the publics expectations. People were not impressed and many suggested everyone’s stylist must of been fired before the show because the looks weren’t up to par this year. 

Times have changed from when award shows meant pulling out a classic suit and tie, perhaps a bow tie to spice things up and for the ladies a beautiful ball gown fitted to perfection and shining accessories to go with it. Nowadays what you wear is a statement of who you are and a way to convey your personality and in the music industry that usually entails a whole lot of extravagance and glam. Have we taken it a little too far this year?

Usually going for a more simple look Caira spiced things up with a diamonte bodysuit, with a black leather belt and black boots. The acclaimed singer is receiving a fair amount of negative comments in regards to her BET awards outfit and fans wish she’d just removed the seemingly unnecessary belt. 

Megan Thee Stallion

Queen of serving looks Megan Thee Stallion is getting mixed reviews on her high slit Red carpet cream dress.

The dress is long and flowing just like The Stallions bone straight hair with minimalistic accessories to let the dress shine. 

Lil Nas X

Following in Billy Porter’s footsteps Lil Nas X showed up to the awards ceremony dressed for the occasion in a floor-length gown printed with what looks like a medieval painting. The contrasting pink and blue with frills have been said to by people on social media to look like something their grandma would put on the table however others feel like it’s unique and as we all know by now Lil Nas X never does the expected only the unexpected.

Taraji P. Henson

The host for the BET awards Taraji P. Henson landed on the red carpet wearing a mesh/ printed side split  Versace dress and majority of people seem to think she did a great job and looked fabulous. 

Dababy

Despite the heat, Dababy turned up rocking a bright yellow jacket on top of a simple black outfit blinged out with some chains and sunglasses 

Migos

All for representing the money, Migos showed up in green coordinated outfits keeping it simple yet flashy as always.  Quavo kept his signature white sunglasses matching perfectly with his khaki green leather jacket, Takeoff reps a money green t-shirt and simple black zipper jacket while Offset keeps it cool with all leather green outfit and hair back to show up the bling on his ears.
