Kanye sues Walmart for creating knockoff Yeezy Foam sneakers

July 8, 2021Kanye is back on the front pages again and unfortunately not for the best reasons. The star is tied up in more drama at the hands of mega supermarket Walmart. Kanye is suing Walmart for allegedly copying his Yeezy foam runners design released in 2019. The store known for its cheap items is selling the shoes at a quarter of the price.
The realistic recreation of the shoes has Walmart customers wondering if they are buying the real Yeezy’s at a bargain reduced price. The sneaker world is filled with knockoffs and Kanye has fallen prey once again to copycat.
The interesting slipper style shoe priced at $75 sold out instantly. Walmart are selling the shoes for $25 taking away a huge profit from Yeezy.
The Yeezy team have warned Walmart to remove the shoes from the website but Walmart are yet to do so This was the last straw for Yeezy and they have proceeded with the lawsuit.
A Yeezy company spokesman, “The product referenced in the complaint is not sold by Walmart, but rather by third-party Marketplace sellers. We take allegations like this seriously and are reviewing the claim. We will respond in court as appropriate after we have been served with the complaint.”
With fast fashion companies gaining attention from customers looking for great fashion for a bargain price many brands fear companies copying their designs and taking them to the market without giving them the proper compensation. This has been a problem for large brands but small businesses are being hit the hardest with this issue and large brands and corporations such as Walmart need to be held accountable for their actions in order to prevent other companies from doing so.
