Cory Muscara – Mindfulness In Motion
Jemima Hunter
July 19, 2021Author, Psych Instructor, Co-Host and Influencer, Cory Muscara, almost reaches 100K on Instagram, as he uses social media to share mindfulness tips to his worldwide followers.
Muscara tells a very captivating and unusual story as to how he learnt his perception teachings which all started at the age of fourteen. The US born well-being enthusiast watched ‘The Secret’ as a teen with a family member and was instantly intrigued by the concept of how the visualization of desires can become a reality, due to the law of attraction.
‘People like my 14-year-old self are the perfect audience for The Secret: not enough critical thinking to question the assumptions; not enough knowledge to spot the contradictions.’
Yet it was only when Muscara fancied a girl in his class at college, that he started getting more involved in the world of the mind. The girl had a keen interest in meditation, so Muscara decided to devote himself to learning about the subject. In 2012, he purchased a ticket to Burma, to join a monastery for six months, as a Buddhist Monk, a practice that included silent meditation for over fourteen hours a day.
‘The more we take care of each moment as it is, the more we actually take care of the next moment and subsequently the future.’
Since 2012 Muscara continued to enlighten his community on spirituality, as well as how to fit mindfulness into a daily routine. For several years the influencer undertook a Mindfulness Based Stress-Reduction Certification and graduated from the Spirit Rock Community Dharma Leader Training.
Muscara has also made multiple appearances on the Dr Oz Show, to show people how mindfulness can be used in a practical way to enhance reconnection to the most important things in your life. Now as an international public speaker, Muscara has performed in over fifty countries and been heard over five million times.
As a result of this, Muscara started getting involved in social media and poste about tips and tricks to use in your everyday, as well as doing live sessions to help people understand themselves better. In 2019, Muscara published his own book named ‘Stop Missing Your Life’, a guidebook to what is required personally for real growth and change. Not only is Muscara an established author, but he is also the recent co-host of ‘Mindfulness’, a website that provides daily guided mediation sessions and coaches members.
Most recently, Muscara created an online retreat, where he shows clients virtually how to reach their full potential in mindfulness. With an unlikely beginning, Muscara has managed to use all that he’s learnt to introduce his teachings to like-minded people through social media. Although raised an American, he manages to straddle the bridge between Eastern and Western philosophies and believes it important to allow both cultures to understand each other whilst being able to immerse themselves in new forms of spirituality.
‘I’ve lived as a monk, studied with some of the world’s leading researchers on happiness, and continue to be insatiably curious about how to help people live well.’
