Meet Jimmy Donaldson, otherwise known as ‘MrBeast’, the YouTube personality that’s skyrocketed in the last few years by putting his all into understanding the algorithm and continuing to post humorous content.
How could you go from a start-up YouTuber to gaining over sixty million subscribers?
At thirteen years old, Donaldson began his first ever YouTube channel where he captured his video games online. As the creative started to produce more videos, he started to gain interest in the platforms economics so began to create content about the highest earners on YouTube.
As Donaldson started understanding the many elements of the platform, he realised he needed to make his content more reckless to increase his subscribers, so continued to film out of the ordinary trips for twenty-four hours at a time. The first viral video was a video of MrBeast counting to a hundred thousand, which led the YouTuber to wanting to understand the algorithm of the platform.

- Be as fresh as possible, don’t follow what others have done before, brainstorm what kind of content you would like to watch.
After the post, Donaldson continued to video similar content. The new components he added seemed to rocket his viewers which overtime began to amplify with millions of views. By the age of nineteen, the creator had over four hundred million views annually which proceeded to grow rapidly in the last two years.
Now with large scale sponsors, the YouTuber has grown his social media accounts and has collaborated with brands and media personalities and plans to continue his passion in the online world.
