Ashleigh Jadee: Now She’s Here
London based, Ashleigh Jadee started out with a BTEC in media and later applied herself to exploring photography and film. A year passed and Jadee made her presence in the industry known, by photographing some of the most influential London music artists, like Wretch 32 and Wiley. Distinguishing herself in the media, by working with the House of CB and H&M in 2018 directing campaigns, Jadee has proven that focus and dedication are key elements to success.
Now as an accomplished director, releasing short films and documentaries, Jadee likes to assist youths, aspiring to be in her position, mentoring individuals by using her established platforms and sharing her valuable experience. In 2019, Jadee’s work paid off when she received her first award in the creative industry at the Brown Sugar Awards and expanded her directorial catalogue by working with names like James
Morrison, Joss Stone and Roddy Ricch.
As we sit down with Jadee, we will start by discussing the experience she gained after years of working in the media and whether the industry has taken to her as a woman of colour, working in a predominantly male environment. I will question whether she feels empowered as female director after generations of women who have fought for a position in the industry, as a result of gender inequality. Rounding off with conversations about how she thinks the media has changed over recent years.
