Back From The Brink – ‘Planted’ to ‘Plantmade’
Jemima Hunter
February 15, 2022Once ‘Planted’, now ‘Plantmade’, the black-owned hair care business, is back on the market after being made to rebrand last year. Due to legal issues over ownership rights of the brand name, Ama Amo-Agyei, the founder of the company, took the products off the market in August 2021.
At the time the entrepreneur stated, ‘We see this as an opportunity to come back bigger and better.’ Only two months later, Plantmade made its way back to social media, ready for pre-orders and is now fully back up and running. The brand otherwise known as ‘the haircare empire’ is still creating natural solutions for hair loss, thinning, breakage, hair, and beard growth.
Recently, Ama has featured on BBC One’s ‘We are England, Bossing it, The Beauty Boss’, which followed Ama’s story from pandemic unemployment to receiving her first million a year later, in her wellness company.
Even though the entrepreneur had to tackle rebranding last year, Ama is determined to make her business something to be proud of.
‘This might be the business I pass on to my great-great grandkids. It’s not going to be the only business I have but this is going to be the start of it.’
