Pharrell Williams partners with Chanel for black Ambitions :an initiative for black & Latinx entrepreneurs

Grammy winner Pharrell Williams has partnered with high fashion brand  Chanel to provide mentoring and funding to black and Latinx entrepreneurs through the Black Ambition initiative. 

Black Ambitions is a non-profit organisation that offers Black and Latinx entrepreneurs resources to build up their businesses and in turn help other black and Latinx’s find opportunities. The Black ambitions prize invests capital into high growth startups as well as mentoring crucial for founders growth and mental wellbeing. Being an entrepreneur can come with many challenges particularly for Black and Latinx founders, the pressure to succeed in a system that often sets you up to fail can take a toll on your mental health. Without support, Black and Latinx entrepreneurs are left to suffer in silence.

Black ambitions have access to a network full of dedicated industry leaders ready to support eligible entrepreneurs for the black ambitions program on all facets of their business.

The 48-year-old star created Black ambitions in order to bridge the wealth gap using entrepreneurship. Pharrel and other talented stars such as Jay Z  have recognised the value in starting a business and using it to benefit communities such as the black and Latinx community. These communities have received fewer opportunities than their white counterparts. More than ever this year business’s have been questioned on their contribution to racial inequality through lack of diversity in staff and opportunities for people of colour to climb of the ranks and be seated in positions of power that will allow them to implement real change.

Despite this being a good tactic the struggle to get a seat at the table has driven the bold and brave to create their own table and encourage others to join them. this is just what Pharell aims to do through the black ambitions programme. 

In partnership with Pharrell Chanel will be offering access to their leadership community. Having the backing of a brand such as Chanel will bring more attention to the initiative as well as the added support and resources. 

Pharrell Williams launches Black Ambition to support minority-owned  businesses

In an announcement video released on the 12th of June on Chanel’s youtube channel, Pharrell reveals the first event for the program will be a panel discussion titled Women Who Lead will be led by Editor-In-Chief of Harper’s Bazaar Samira Nasr featuring a line of accomplished women including  Actress Tracee Ellis Ross, Edith Cooper co-founder of Medley, Emma Grede Co-founder and CEO of Good American and lastly Natalie Massenet co-founder and partner of Imaginary Ventures. The four ladies will be discussing leadership through a woman’s lens a conversation that is often lacking in the entrepreneur space.
