September 17, 2021Rihanna is the next bombshell to feature on the latest issue of Dazed magazine. Celebrating their 30th-anniversary issue in style Dazed captures the fashion icon Rihanna in a range of bad girl looks.
Dazed’s editor-at-large Durga Chew-Bose who happens to also be a big Rihanna fan came up with the idea of taking a series of editorials of Rihanna and breaking down ‘why she is the woman we are all willing to wait for.’ Rihanna certainly is worth the wait having the internet intrigued over her images and still asking for her to release an album after a 5-year hiatus since her album Anti.
“She’s always paying attention. When the new album arrives, you can trust that it will disorganise and organise us all. “

Dazed takes a 70’s gothic styling approach
Rihanna is the main attraction in the photographs captured by Rafael Pavarotti and styled by Editor in chief Ib Kamara. Keeping the backgrounds simple yet distinct Pavarotti gives a dark, grungy yet glossy feel to every picture. This summer the ’70s have come back into fashion with the latest trends featuring halter neck tops, swirl prints, flared trousers, prints and lots of colours. The Dazed team took a completely different interpretation to the return of the 70’s taking on a more gothic and intriguing styling perspective. Rihanna’s mullet matches perfectly with the look and debuts a whole new level of looks that aren’t determined by what everyone else is doing.
The reign of Rihanna with Dazed
Durga’s writing style is unique and poetic ringing in the reader’s mind like an ode to Rihanna. The piece was experimental and experiential making you want to go back and listen to every Rihanna album immediately. Durga’s passionate piece reminds us Rihanna can never be forgotten. The images further emphasise this with Rihanna looking effortlessly ethereal in every image and every look perfectly depicting Rihanna’s personality and her undoubtable alluring presence. Dazed have an interesting way of making every image have a hint of eeriness almost horror movie like but still keeping the beauty and editorial qualities we all still want in a magazine.
Maybe this is a hint to some new music from Rihanna, who knows.
