Meet Khaby Lame the 21-year-old making millions off of creating content on Tiktok. Khaby has over 99 million followers on Tiktok and his videos range from getting 20 million views to as high as 300 million views.  He has gained himself a spot amongst the worlds most popular Tiktokers and in such a short space of time. This young man is well on his well to being set up for life and all he needed was a smartphone, some humour and the guts to put himself out there. His TikTok bio says ‘if you wanna laugh you’re in the right place’. He doesn’t fail to deliver.

 His short and straight to the point videos are simple in nature. He comically points out simple tasks that people overly complicated. His facial expressions and expressive hand gestures speak for themselves as he never says a word. Khaby uses various features available on Tiktok and a particular favourite, stitching other peoples videos into your own. 

We can all relate to the feeling of seeing someone do something so simple in the most complicated way, Khaby taps into this frustrating feeling we can all relate to and displays it in a way anyone can understand. TikTok has grown into a space where the most shocking and strange content is what goes viral and catches peoples attention but  Khaby’s simplicity good old relatable humour is a refreshing break from the madness you might see on the timeline.

Khaby Lame was born in Senegal and now lives in Italy, Like all success stories, Khaby started as just an ordinary young man with an ordinary job trying to make his way through life when an unfortunate circumstance hit and hit hard for all of us. 2020 was the year Coronavirus threatened to ruin careers and jobs for many people including Khaby Lame. In 2020 Khaby lost his job working at a factory due to the pandemic. Little did he know this was going to be one of the best things that could have happened to him. Soon after becoming unemployed Khaby had a whole lot of free time. Since then he has been creating short comedy skits of things we can all relate to this has gotten him labelled the 2nd most popular TikTok user as well as being worth nearly 2 million US dollars  Some may not understand why his videos have gotten him this much attention however his consistency and dedication on the app has gained him peoples loyalty, he has stayed true to his brand and figured out what works for him, sticking to that niche.

It can be tempting to jump on the bandwagon and feel the pressure to follow what everyone else doing and disregard the unique talent you have but as we have seen time and time again staying true to who you are wins people over.
