Yeezy and Gap Collaboration set to launch in July

Having released the collaborative logo between Gap and Yeezy a month ago the two popular brands are ready to release further details on their line.

Although you may not necessarily see Gap and Yeezy being similar the two have managed to find a logo to represent both brands. 

 The two brands have been working together on the collaboration for a while and are expected to launch in July this year. The collaboration has both Gap and Yeezy fans excited as well as brought more than $1.4 billion to Gap’s market cap of $3.8 billion.

Gap was at the top of its game in the early 200’s but with brands getting more and more creative and catering particularly to millennials and gen Z customers, Gap has become irrelevant in the world of fashion and have been stormed by brands that are ahead of the game such as Yeezy. This collaboration is a perfect way for Gap to regain popularity and they seem to be betting it all that this will be the case. 

Gap has taken many risks in order for this collaboration to work and are truly investing in the hopes to come out on top.

While already it’s been a challenging year for retailers due to the pandemic Gap has faced additional losses since the Yeezy collaboration last year in June 2020. The company was forced to close 225 stores in August after sales declined.

According to documents reviewed by Bloomberg The company expects revenue of approximately $150 million in 2022, in its first full year.

From past sales and popularity, The prospects for Yeezy are looking positive. From Yeezy’s previous collaboration with Adidas, the company sold $1.7 billion in Yeezy sneakers last year.

The aesthetic direction of the collaboration is being shaped by British designer Mowalola Ogunlesi who was announced as design director in 2020. We can expect to see the signature Yeezy elements that have captured not only Kanye fans but the fashion-forward community.

The collaboration has the approval of designer Marc Jacob he commented:

“It’s going to be fantastic!” on the news on Business Of Fashion 

 There will also be an element of surprise as there always is in a Yeezy collection and we look forward to whats to come .
