Bukki Ojo: The Power in the Pivot

MYCOMEUP

June 30, 2021

Bukki Ojo started her journey in fashion at 17 working for Topshop, she later quit her job and started building her clothing line. As Bukki pursued her love for fashion, industry giants like Asos and Urban Outfitters pursued her creations. By 18, her collection was on sale in the UK, Canada and the US, and she featured in London week. Ahead of her years, Bukki was earmarked as one of the pioneers of merging western fashion with African prints and fabrics.

Bukki has recently pivoted from her vintage store 90ZBACK and founded @seventhstores a thriving fashion brand.

As we sit down with Bukki, we will be discussing the challenges, lessons and successes she gained embarking on her journey into the industry as a young woman of colour. We will explore whether she feels as though embedding her identity, experience and culture into her work made an impact in diversifying her industry. Rounding off the discussion by talking about the importance of evolution and reliance in entrepreneurship.
