The entertainment company SMADE that brought us Europe’s biggest afrobeats festival Afronation is back and is bringing the African diaspora community in London a carnival to be remembered.

Many African communities across the world have come together in support during tough times but have also come together through music and dance.

The  Founder and CEO of SMADE events that have brought us Afronation and other huge events is Adesegun Adeonsun Jr also known as SMADE

Meet the founder

The ambitious entrepreneurs originally from Nigeria made the move to London as a young 19-year-old in hopes to get a better education and better prospects for his future where he planned to go down a traditional route to success. Little did he know his off-campus activities as the go-to host university parties would be his route to success. His parties grew from being small gatherings to a party everyone wanted to be at so much so the police advised him to next time take it to the clubs to avoid complaints. This incident sparked an idea to host club nights as he already had the reputation, people on his side and the experience. From there, his ambitions grew to host larger events targeted at the African Diaspora community which he often left was underrepresented in the entertainment and events world.

After the success of Afronation, Yam carnival is the next event SMADE will be hosting and Londoners are buzzing after the incredible lineup was released. One of the headline acts includes Afrobeat star Davido and other acts include singer Khelani, NSG, NAO, Darkoo, IAMDDB  and so many more.

Yam Carnival will take place in Clapham Common on Sat Aug 28. Tickets can be purchased on their website through Ticketmaster
