Issa Rae set to play spider-woman in “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse”

Multitalented producer, director and Actress of HBO’S Insecure Issa Rae will be joining the cast of the sequel  “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” as Jessica Drew, better known as Spider-Woman. The cast joined by Issa Rae will include  Shameik Moore playing Miles Morales the main superhero. Hailee Steinfeld playing Gwen Stacy, a.k.a. Spider-Gwen).

The show will be directed by Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers and Justin K. Thompson. Peter Ramsey, one of the directors of the first movie, is returning as an executive producer, in collaboration with Aditya Sood.

Issa Rae has had a busy and accomplished year

She has had several projects including the launch of  HOORAE a multi-faceted entertainment media production company. As well as shooting the last season of Insecure. The star has been praised for her authenticity as well as her bubbly and fun personality as well as how she stands up and supports other black artists in an industry that often ignores them. The NAACP  recognised her talent giving her the award for Outstanding Actress in A Comedy Series.

 Her perseverance is inspiring and she is definitely a great role model for young people to watch.

Rae has made waves in the industry and has made incredible strides in her career from producing the Youtube series awkward to Insecure and movies such as action-comedy Lovebirds and The Photographer.

Although known for her great humour ( and incredible hairstyles) Issa Rae is a multifaceted actress able to create depth within the so-called funny character, making her a perfect match for her new role as Spider-Woman.

The crew for the Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse have kept the details for the movie sequel quiet in order to keep the mystery and build up suspense.  After being rescheduled a few times a date has finally been set for the release. The “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” sequel is scheduled to debut on the 7th of October, 2022.
