Twenty-four-year-old, Joe Nail has been thriving in his non-profit business ‘Lead For America’ since launching it in 2018. The idea behind the business model is to supply college and high school students with internships to become a leader of their community.

Nail’s eldest sister has always suffered from an intellectual disability and his father was deployed to Afghanistan, which made day-to-day life more complex. With help from neighbours and friends, Nail felt blessed to have so many supporters nearby. ‘I think there is a piece of focus on community and helping each other in Kansas that is special and a unique experience.’

This was the stem that started his route to founding Lead For America, so he could ensure other parts of the globe were getting the help they needed.

Last year, Nail managed to gain the support of several funding foundations and the government by donating four million dollars, to help him achieve his dreams of helping less fortunate families and giving students a clear route for their future.

‘Now it’s about figuring out how to scale this up to be something for every community in the country that is looking for it.’

Now the entrepreneur has already helped over three hundred young people globally in more than eighty communities and is determined to tutor and provide equipment for the next generation.

The end goal for Joe Nail is ‘By 2040, to have 1 million of our nation’s most dynamic and diverse leaders working on our communities’ toughest challenges.’
