Made In Thamesmead – Garnishing A Real Community Spirit

October 27, 2021

Meet the Thamesmead born cutting edge actor, producer and writer, Kwame Augustine. Publicly known for starring in films including Cagefighter, Locked-In and Degree, the visionary also produced the first ever audio playbook, a multi-sensory experience named ‘The Novelist’ which gained him a title on Amazon’s Top 20 Best Seller’s List.

The versatile impresario has recently released his latest commissioned piece with Peabody London titled ‘Made in Thamesmead.’ The watch is dedicated to artists who grew up in Thamesmead, that includes an emotive spoken-word cover and documents creatives, local inspirations and admires the town spirits.

Augustine discussed how important the commission was to him in creating a community of networking creatives in his hometown.

‘This is my ode to a town that has played a pivotal role in who I am today. The very fabric of this town informs a lot of my creative choices to this day. I wanted to put a piece together that speaks to the positives of Thamesmead, which isn’t always seen in the best light. I also wanted to show the world the power of creativity. Art and creativity can bond people from all walks of life, garnishing a real community spirit which I believe over the years has withered away. However, this is changing, well it’s changing in Thamesmead, which I feel can be a catalyst for other towns in London. So yeah, this piece is dedicated to a town I love and all the creatives sharing their art. Your art is needed, your work is important.’

Starring Lovelle Hill, Paul Elliot, Hannah Ringham and many more, Made in Thamesmead features the new voices of London committed to flaunting the individuality and innovation of these Thamesmead artists.

‘In this town inspiration is never too far.’
