BBC One launches the nineteenth series of Dragon’s Den, to find invest worthy businesses and partners from around the country. Joined by the old but gold faces of Deborah Meaden, Peter Jones, Sara Davies and Touker Suleyman, the venture capitalists are on a new year search for fresh ideas.

With the previous exit of Tej Lalvani, the CEO of the UK’s renowned vitamin company ‘Vitabiotics’, Steven Bartlett is next in line to make the all-important panel decisions.

So, who is Bartlett and what led him to being a reality TV panellist at the sprightly age of twenty-nine? Having dropped out from school and Manchester University, the business has been nothing but fast paced with this entrepreneur. At only eighteen we saw Bartlett grow his social media marketing start-up named ‘Social Chain’, which later led to making The Social Chain and Media Chain addition, public.

With a revenue generating over six hundred million, the entrepreneur left the business at twenty-seven and has since been hosting podcasts, releasing debut books, and appearing on reality TV shows.

‘Dragons’ Den was the only window I had into business from 12 years old, it’s like the first time you go to New York City after seeing it in films for your entire life. But I understand what I bring. A new perspective from a new era of business.’

Born into to a low-income family, Bartlett wanted to create a net worth to be proud of and assist entrepreneurs in becoming successes. Although the businessman may not have as many years under his belt as Lalvani, it seems he’s made up the remaining in assets and wisdom.

‘I learned that if I was to have anything, it wasn’t going to be left for me under the Christmas tree, it was going to be a direct consequence of my own actions.’
