Prince William & Kate reached 500k youtube subscribers: Are they winning back the public?

Following the controversy around the Royal family, Prince William and Kate have taken one for the team and launched a YouTube channel in hopes to personalise themselves and create the same buzz Prince Harry and Meghan have had both online and offline.

 The couple has titled their channel The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. They have already drawn in more than 500K subscribers, curious to find out more about the life of the Royal family and what they are really like.

The Duke and Duchess have released their first video, a montage of clips of them at events and media appearances.

The video includes clips of them attending schools, workplaces, charity events and general places the average Brit would be. The video came across almost like a campaign video for the presidency. Showing all the best bits of them supporting the community with a diverse range of people. This begs the question, is this an attempt for the Royals to regain the favour of the public after Meghan’s Oprah interview? 

The following videos on the couples channel are a series of telephone calls that The Duchess held with participants from the Hold Still project. They are both touching and a great way for viewers to see how Kate interacts with the public.

Viewers have made use of the open comments section on Prince William and Kate’s channel to provide suggestions on videos they would like to see some with a touch of humour and some purely there for the banter. 

Saying what we would all love to see , One viewer commented Next video “reacting to the Oprah interview”. 

With YouTube and social media attracting millions of people across the world it’s become the best tool for controlling the narrative for celebrities and public figure and a perfect tool for the royal couple Prince William and Kate to use to their advantage.
