Twenty-five-year-old, bedroom pop and funk artist Remi Wolf recently released her new tune ‘Liz’ on BBC radio with a rising 120k Spotify fans.

The Californian born singer always had a passion for music with a sideline love for skiing, which she began at the age of seven. Whilst attending high school, Wolf attended a music centre where she performed songs that she recited. With a love for all of music, Wolf talked about where her expressiveness grew from originally ‘Stevie Nicks really inspired me to be free and myself and artistic and powerful.’

As a former competitive skier and Junior Olympian, Wolf allocated  two days a week for her studies, spending the rest  of the week training. ‘That’s when I decided to stop doing that myself, because it was crazy.’

After prioritizing music, Wolf began writing 80’s inspired songs at college, auditioning for American Idol at seventeen, quickly recognizing  that her music was  more than just a hobby. Following the exceptional applaud she got with the judges, Wolf began uploading her own work on Spotify and organised a live tour around New York, soon to be snatched up by Island Records and Virgin EMI Records last year. In November, Wolf introduced her music to the television scene, completing a backing track for Apple’s phone commercial.

It’s not just the rhythm and funk aspects to Wolf’s music that gets her recognition, she is known for having some wildcard music videos too ‘I just wanted to create an alternate, surreal, colourful universe to live in.’ With a love for iconic musicians like Prince and Anderson Paak, Wolf wants to deliver her music with just as much personality as they do. ‘I want the feeling they gave me to come though when people listen to my music.’

With almost 80K followers and tour dates in order, Wolf continues to discombobulate music  while following her aspirations and continuing to  inspire others by demonstrating that being your authentic self can get you far.

‘Be yourself or don’t be anyone at all!’
