With an entrepreneurial mindset from a young age, at only twenty years old, Brendan Cox has founded a thread of over ten businesses specialising in branding and social media, as well as publishing his own book, last year.

With over two hundred and fifty thousand dollars in profit under his belt, it begs the question how did he do it? Let’s find out.

Always intrigued by business, Cox searched ways to make money in seventh grade and found the answer, by selling sweets at a higher price to make a profit at school.

‘In school, I sold each individual pack for a dollar and made $56 in profits on my first day. At that point, I was hopelessly addicted to the world of entrepreneurship.’

Before his fifteenth birthday, Cox decided to spend hundreds of dollars on an Instagram account to produce brand deals and advertising on the platform. Within a week, the entrepreneur made back his investment and more, so decided to broaden his horizon by running another five accounts.

In the same year, the business addict founded ‘Kicks Case’, a phone case company in which he designed, imported, and marketed on social media. ‘I watched YouTube videos and taught myself how to use Photoshop to make phone case designs, promotional flyers, and social media posts.’ Within two years, the business was thriving, being distributed in sneaker shops and drawing in a lot of social media attention.

In 2015, Cox used his Photoshop knowledge to launch ‘Cox Visuals’, a Gen-Z-powered social media agency in charge of growing and building brands. Cox was later spotted by a clothing brand that was wonderstruck by his entrepreneurial skills and graphics work, which led them to hire the entrepreneur and outsource designs to Cox Visuals.

Since beginning his first business venture, Cox continued to master the entrepreneurial world by founding another eight companies including an odd job platform for teenagers and Business Blurb, an entrepreneurial media space.

So what’s the secret to success you ask? Determination and vision.

With his top tips for aspiring entrepreneurs including dreaming big, taking risks, managing stress, learning, and understanding the hustle, Cox wants to show that it’s the strength of character that will help you pursue great things in life.

‘I’m constantly studying consumer audiences and technology trends that could be key to a successful business model.’
